Yes the big P-stem probably emerged from its mother corm a couple of years ago. I cleaved the mother corm off the old patch about 5 yrs ago. There was about a foot of leaves over the top of the P-stem, for a total of 5 and half feet. I covered it all with a 16x20 ft tarp. Weighted it down with blocks on 3 sides and tied off on the windward side to the mass of bamboo that resides there.

As for the unprotected patch, no emergence yet. I'll post any progress.
