Party Zone 8a edible bananas possible?

Has anyone in zone 8a been able to fruit edible bananas without building a greenhouse around the plants?

We have been growing basjoo (which fruits way too much every year), Picasso, and Sikkimensis 'Red Tiger' for a few years now. They all winter well because we bubble wrap the pstems. They are planted in the sunniest area of the yard that gets southwest exposure.

I want to venture into growing edibles. Looking for advices from people who has had success under similar growing conditions.

Thanks in advance!
