Your objective for fruit is to save as much of the psuedostem as possible from the cold. When it warms up again inspect your plants.Any part of the psuedostem that shows damage cut off and water well. Wait a few days to a week and you should have new leaves coming out of the psuedostem where you chopped the dead stuff off. This lets your plants not start over growing the pseudostem and vastly improves your chances of blooms and fruit.

What a relief! Glad to know that it’s okay that I didn’t soak them ahead of time! Thanks for the info! Makes sense to cover the pseudo stem from the cold winter! At least it’s quite cold up here in Ohio! Anything to have a better chance to get fruit! Yeah!
