Use them for insulating the parts of your basjoos still in the ground! This is my first winter with them but I used them as insulation from the cold.. along with hay stacked on top. If you can protect the pseudostem in the ground from the cold, it'll grow back to the full height of the previous year even faster! Also, decomposition is exothermic meaning it releases heat... so the old stems decomposing under the hay means the stems in the ground will stay warmer
