In a pot? I think it might freeze and the roots will stay frozen for too long. My suggestion is to put the pot in the ground (bury the pot) or keep inside.
Last year, I kept my paw paws in the ground. THe trees were wrapped with burlap and covered with leaves. It may have been extreme but I wanted no losses since they were small. This year, I don't be covering them at all since they are much bigger now.
