Do not remove the plant completely, so that the exposure to light direction does not change
again. Remove as much of the soil as you can and replace it with neutral soil. I presume,
that you left some of the soil in place, which surrounded the roots in the pot. That soil is
not over-fertilized. So leave it there. Even though the remaining fertilizer is 'slow
release', you may try to flush it out with lots of water. Keep in mind, that fertilizer is
not poison, just right now premature and you may well be able to use the fertilized soil
elsewhere or mix it into your compost, where at least the nitrogen helps with the
decomposition. I often toss a handful of nitrogen on compost which will be used several
months down the road.
