Default Fried Orinoco anyone?

Well, we had some high winds when the latest cold front came through Sunday night and it blew my Orinoco over, even though it was staked. So I went ahead and cut the stalk of fruit off (a nice hand of about 40 or so fruit...not bad for SE TX). It was predicted to get down to about 32-33 for our area so I decided I might as well. They had been on there since sometime in Aug. so I think they'll be OK. They are now on top of my 'fridge waiting to ripen.
Anyhow...about two weeks ago I couldn't resist any longer and I cut one of the fruit off and brought into the house to see if it would go ahead and ripen. It had remained green the whole time so last night I decided to peel it some to see what the fruit looked like and it was about like peeling a very green plantain. So I decided to cut it up in thin slices and fry it in some oil. It turned out rather bland. I figured being a dessert banana it would at least be a little sweet. It probably just hadn't developed enough sugars yet. So rather than waste what I'd cooked, I sprinkled the slices with a little sugar and some cinnamon and it wasn't too bad. I think I'll be a little more patient now, though, and let them ripen up so that I can eat the rest the way they were meant to be eaten. Can't blame a guy for trying though!
