As far as making your pin stay put... After going to: Edit profile, additional information: location, member map. Seems like you got this part.
gammavt, I believe I zoomed in on my property as far as I could, selected the "add your pin to the map", moved the pin to the part of my property I wanted to pin.
I think I had to double click it to make it stay put?
If that doesn't work I am not sure what else to do but sit back and have drink while someone else says something.
