Answering what I do with pumpkins - There's pies, cookies, breads, the seeds are great for drying and/or roasting to eat and add to things, and then there's also soup too.

I'll agree there are other squashes that taste better, and for me I love sampling heirloom types, so, so far I find the all-time sweetest, best squash to be "Gil's Golden Pippin" - Amazing rich sweet flavor!!
