Why are you starting these so late? I'm not familiar in growing things in your climate zone, but around here, if you don't already have large plants with developing pumpkins on there at this time, you won't get much of anything significant by Halloween. When we grew pumpkins and gourds and that kinda stuff in the past, we started them from seed around mid May or early June.
