It's late July and you're only now planting pumpkins?? I grow pumpkins, moreso for eating than carving, but I haven't tried them in tires yet. I grow mine in kiddie pools, the plastic blue ones. My main suggestion is like most say - Provide some very fertile soil! And for me, I always try and push people into companion planting. Throw some beans in there
