Default Re: Potted Fruir Tree Question.

First off Guanabana trees will not take any cold weather.Zone 9 is not warm enough for out door growing. These trees can only be grown out doors in the southern most tip of Florida. In the rest of the continental U.S. they can be grown indoors. But remember these trees grow to be large . Any large tree grown in a pot will eventually die. When growing in a pot water at least every other day.Keep soil moist but not soggy. Place the tree where it can receive bright sunlight to partial shade. Place 2 to 3 inches of mulch around tree to help keep roots moist.Apply 1/2 pound of 10-10-10 when tree is one year old.Increase to 1 pound during year two and 3 pounds at year three. After the last chance of frost the tree can be removed to outdoors. But keep it in a pot. I too live in zone 9 Florida.Any temperatures near or below freezing the following year will destroy your, tree. These trees are native to the tropical areas of North and south America. And will not tolerate cold conditions.
