thank you Sunfish, that's my guess too, but I haven't had any experience with them before, only the info available on the internet (so much incorrect info there). btw, the color of the petals and sepals is actually a lot darker, richer purple than the camera captured, more blue hues than the red. i pollinated one flower with it's own pollen, and the other with P. caerulea, although doubt the fruit will manage to develop as it is only a matter of days when the min. (night) temps are going to drop below 15 centigrade. i'd appreciate if you'd tell me what's the min temp the flowers/fruit can stand, for P. quadrangularis too? I am expecting P. quadrangularis flowers to open any day. Also, is there a registered hybrid of P. phoenicea and P. alata? If yes, what would be the name? Sorry to bother, but searched the web and haven't managed to find any info on this. Many thanks!!!!
