Bananas are some tough plants. Yank it out. Twist it out. Cut it out(as long as you cut some roots too) and shove it in a hole. Trust me, it's very tough to injure a banana during transplant.

Living in Hawaii, I have the delightful chore of constant pup control. If I leave em be, the various bananas will take over my yard/garden.

A coworker wanted some pups so I just took a spade and hammer to 2 Dwarf Brazilian pups today and shoved them in two cheap nursery pots with random soil that's laying around. Each sword pup is around 3 feet tall and in order to fit them in the 2 gallon pots, I snipped a bunch of the roots but I guarantee they'll live and grow into monsters.
