I use all kinds of vegetable for compost !
carrot skins
potato skins
lettuce cores (the big chunks left after pulling all the leaves off)
cucumber ends
Yuca scraps
leaves from trees
Banana skins
lawn clippings
I use a trash can

The single most important thing about composting is … Just do it, after you have produced some then you will see its easy
