Some great Manzano bananas from the grocery store. It had been a long time since I'd bought a good one. From the store, they are usually dry and chalky with some unappealing hard lumps in the fruit. These ones just looked good -- the peels were firm and almost shiny waxy looking. The flesh was perfect: dense, smooth, and delicious. Now I remember why I like this variety! Don't know why all the ones that show up in our markets are sub-par.
