Default Re: Cults

In the first video they didn't mention anything about physical restraint (essentually: kidnapping), freely engaging in 'relations' with the leader for 'internal-purification'.

I figured this would devolve into a Mormon-bashing session, or some similar crap.

The common thread I detect is that the 'leader' makes these un-founded outlandish statements that no-one challenges. They are either deluded, insane, or intentionally deceptive. Perhaps some psychosis occurs where the 'leader', if not already self-deluded or insane, begins to actually believe what he/she is saying since no one is challenging them, nor are they challenging themselves. The longer this continues, what was a slight deviation from the path of truth then becomes a completely different path altogether. If a person is self-doubting, weak-willed, somewhat insecure, and spiritually weak they are easy victims of these types. Even stronger personalities, if totally cut off from non-cult influence, may eventually succumb to the pressure to conform.

The first warning is when you see the 'leader' not bound by the same set of rules that they expect their followers to obey (kinda like our govt?). The 'leader' also has 'enforcers' to impose their will on reluctant followers (again, like our govt?), and a general consolidation of power, and untimate submission of individual will. (czars, and a 'civilian army' as powerful as the military - beholden only to the pres?)
