Mark, I would be glad to give it a try. When I first came to the Philippines I am sure I'd never tasted any other banana than US store-bought Cavendish. Boy was I ever in for a surprise! When I put the first Lakatan banana in my mouth, I remember I felt like I was being hit with an explosion of taste and aroma. They smell different, and the taste includes something of a sub-acid component, which has been described elsewhere here as
Tart Cherry Pie and Custard. I would not, however, cast its flavor as being so tart as Cherry pie. Perhaps cider and custard is better. I will also say that now Cavendish, which I once used to love and eat daily, now seems so bland in comparison that I only bring it into the house when I have nothing better for use in cooking banana bread.
