Welll I hadn't heard from my friend with the Veinte Cohol I had dug from the garden and couldn't find room for here. She had been away for a week and when she got back exitedly calling me asking what was going on and there was a "Red thing " sticking out with what looked like bananas on it?
Needless to say I paid a visit.........
It not only lived but had been producing bananas the whole time she was away and when I got there I was about in shock!!!! I cut a leaf and some of the petals away for these photos:

Not only was it still growing but, it had put out a bud.... with about 80 to 100 bananas on it.

not only that but, instead of the stunted bunch I had barely hope would emerge it was producing double layered hands containing 20 or so little bananas on each of them and just thriving!

Experts have said that this would be too much stress for the plant and couldn't be done. The fact is , is that most of those in the scientific community are rightly only concerned with commercial production and would have no reason to experiment like those of us in colder climates so... never let anyone tell you what you can't do until you've tried it and failed on your own..... at least when it comes to growing bananas out of zone
