You know, that's from the ancient and Spartan times, to cut everything.

As for the banana, it's quite tall, so if it's edible, it will most likely be Orinoco or some variant of that (Cavendish types wouldn't probably make it there) and if it's not edible, than I don't think it's basjoo, the pup has lots of wax... But I'm no expert, just the first hunch.
