Go to an actual greenhouse nursery and ask for a bag of STERILE soil-less mix...this will solve your soil pest problems and banana plants grow excellent in it.

I use Sunshine Pro-Mix #4 and #1.

Never cheap-out when it comes to soil...it can make or break your plants.
