Re: planting date for the north
I wait until Mother's Day (May 9th this year) to plant anything tender. Bulbs can go as soon as it's 50+ at night. I've uncovered my basjoo clump already. I didn/t mulch it this year; just let the p-stems and leaves die and act asa mulch. We'll see how it worked.
