My yard is mostly clay, so I mix soil and compost for anything that goes in the ground. I fertilize the bananas with Banana fuel.

February 2011 it was between 21 and 25.

I've never looked at Hirose. I have what may be B. odashimae at my parent's house. It's been in the ground for 5 years and take some frost damage but...

It is listed at 25F. B. vulgaris is listed as more cold sensitive. The vittata has been through two winters in ground and the green one has been through one. They did fine with some protection. ...
