That makes sense. I’m only two miles from the beach in Southern California. So my summers are mild. The plant grows fine but it is one of my slowest growers.

I guess mine is kind of in between in growth form. Mine definitely doesn't look like it has Bunchy Top. Here is a picture.

It might be weather dependent. On my Dwarf Red the leaves are stacked right on top of each other and it is in the ground.

Dwarf red grows very slow for me. Probably the slowest out of all the varieties I grow.
