Hi there Peter. I'm fairly certain that you'd be able to grow most bananas. Fruiting shouldn't be too much of a worry either. I even managed to fruit a dwarf cavendish in nearly full shade here...

Whoa. Took a while to reply, sorry Jo. I'm growing M.zebrina (or whatever you want to call it), M.ornata, E.ventricosum, a dwarf cavendish and a small fruiting (large growing) something from Vietnam.
