Banana plants in shaded spots such as under tree branches are protected better from frost over night especially if the temperature is not more than a few degrees below freezing.

I also had problems with internal corm rot last year. There was no evidence of corm weevil or nematode damage. The cause was probably fungal rot from too much water.

I agree, the SH 3640 bananas are excellent quality. I have one SH 3640 plant with a bunch filling out now. Hopefully you can continue with your success growing bananas. It is a wonderful hobby.
