Re: M. sumatrana in 7b?
I mulched the bunch with over two feet of woodchips, and that with the winter wet that accumulated killed them all.
Perhaps if I had covered the mulch with a tarp to keep the water off, they might...

Re: dormancy in the pot?
I have over-wintered Musella lasiocarpa and Musa acuminata 'Rojo' in pots. The lasios were in 1 gallon pots ( 2 years old and very rootbound) and the Rojo was in a 10 or 12 inch pot.
The lasios were...

Pictures of dormant corms?
Are there any pictures here or does anyone have any, of dormant corms--as dormant as they can get?
Maybe I'm imagining a true corm, as opposed to what is termed a corm in Musa, but wonder just how...

Re: Anyone recognize this one?
Joe~
From what I understand, they're all the same plant.
Musa acuminata 'Sumatrana' is 'Zebrina' is 'Rojo' is 'Bloodleaf' and vice versas.
There might be different clones available that have...

Re: Anyone recognize this one?
I was out cutting leaves off my Musella lasiocarpas to prepare for winter and here's something I noticed: the cut petioles don't have that "banana peel" scent that most (all?) Musas have. Just a sort...

A lot of you are too young to have seen him, but he was quite a popular part of the old school shows on the Captain Kangaroo show on US...

Re: M. sumatrana in 7b?
Thanks Joe.
I planted the plant(s) fairly deeply, and will add some temporary soil and mulch over what is usually there. Unfortunately the plants aren't near a structure that might add some...

Re: Anyone recognize this one?
Thanks Zak, Joe, Jarred. Now I know.
I was wishing that one clump was basjoo--really want some of that one!
Guess I'll be looking for someone who wants to trade lasio for basjoo.......

Anyone recognize this one?
I have a banana and I wonder what it is.
I have a colony of 5 or six lasiocarpas, which I know are correctly ID'd because I watched it bloom. The mystery nanner was a gift and is supposed to be...

M. sumatrana in 7b?
Ok, I'm leaving a clump of 'Rojo' in the ground over winter while keeping a potted one indoors.
I'm doing this mostly on the reported success "Brent and Becky" have given in their bulbs...
