I'm trying to germinate Musa sikkimensis and Musa ssp. 'Helen's Hybrid' (one of each of those have germinated already) and Musa ssp. 'Burmese Blue'.

Didn't know 'Burmese Blue' was a sikki var. Nice...

Now I've germinated Musa sikkimensis and Musa x paradisiaca (which I believe, from the look of the seeds, to be Musa balbisiana) with fluctuating temperatures. The Ensete ventricosum just had room...

Here we've had our first frost, temps down at 20°F, we've even had snow, not enough to cover anything, but it WAS snow. There are holes in the road with frozen water. :0493:

I'm thinking of ordering some few more seeds, but I began thinking of our temperatures. Tonight the lowest was around 20°F, and the day temperature is below freezing too, just now a bit over freezing...

Haha, now at least four Musa x paradisiacas have germinated too :08:

The seeds are found in the banana fruit, and they should grow and bloom true to the mother plant.

All these (yes, all these) have germinated for me yet:

Ensete ventricosum

Pretty many, huh?

The first three species I got and sowed, was sowed in only moist vermiculite, but those three first ones...
