Re: Free Variegated Florida
So carefully looking at your posts it looks like you bought a french

This is NOT a variegated florida banana. I would
bet your from Nigeria. Do you have any other Variegated

Re: Super Red Variegate?
I found them difficult also. They seem to require a lot of warmth and
do not like coolness and with low light and under fluorescent light, the plant
will be all green. :2722:

Re: Musa basjoo sunburned...
Hi Lovetogarden, I am located in Chilliwack, BC, Canada.
We have very limited resources for banana plants here in Canada
and basically have to import everything, and, or grow from seeds.
I have been...

Re: Musa basjoo sunburned...
If leaves are turning red to brown then it's just that it hasn't been acclimated
to full sun yet. if they are just folding up that is just a normal reaction to the
intense sun and heat and they will...

Re: Greetings from WV
If you want to try Musa Basjoo, it really is a very hardy banana. I am
a bit confused about your zone, it seems to have quite a range.
If you are more in a zone 5a, Don't try and leave your Basjoos...

Re: Super Red Variegate?
No, this is a good example of why you shouldn't believe everything
you read. That is a mistake in the listing. That it simply just a Siam
Ruby, and will not be any shorter or redder than any one...

Re: Super Red Variegate?
That's a Siam Ruby. Better off to buy one in the USA.
The more sun they get the redder the leaves get. so some
plants will look more red than others, depending on how much
sun they are receiving. I...

I used to live in a similar zone as you but I didn't let that stop me. I
grew Basjoo, Sikkimensis red tiger, Musella lasiocarpa, Ensete Maurelii

Welcome back. I also was away for a few years and just recently started
using this site again.
I see you are in a banana unfriendly zone. Was saddened to hear you
were banana-less. :ha:

Re: Musa but not sure which one. Anyone can help?
It definitely looks like a super dwarf Cavendish. Most, if not all the super
dwarfed banana plants that only get to 36" tall are Super dwarf Cavendish.
Sellers come up with different names to call...

I know there is insulated pots, but they are more expensive than

Re: San Diego cool tolerant dwarf bananas
I would plant a Musa Mahoi, and or a Musa Enano Gigante. Both of these
are plenty cold hardy enough to live in your zone and will produce edible
fruit. They also will stay at a manageable height for...
