Re: Looking for Ensete glaucum ‘Snow Banana’

Would be nice if people acknowledged where they got material, especially if given for free. And keep donor informed of progress and experience in growing. Idea is we all share and learn from what...

Re: Looking for Basjoo pollen

Why do you need pollen? Our bananas flower and bear fruit without other plants or flowers, so am wondering what you plant to do with the basjoo pollen. Also, how long does it remain viable and how...

Re: Dying basjoo — is it going to recover or should I cut it down?

Re: explain this

WOW! Those babies! Never seen a basjoo produce so many and with such small p stems. Ours produces pups rather like a normal banana - 6 or 7 would be a lot for us, but the p stem would be 4 or 5...

Re: Most leaf cold hardy variety

Location of plant (protected, south side, higher ground, etc,) plays a big part. But we have found that Basjoo appears to have hardier leaves than the Sikkimensis which after first frost is zapped...

Agree with Pitangadiego IF they are the edible or tropical bananas, but for the hardier types, which it sounds like you have (Basjoo) (and maybe Sikkimensis which we are trying this year), leaving...

Re: Musa Basjoo Seems Overcrowded? Remove pups?

We want new plants so have "thinned" our clumps. Does not seem to have much impact on the size of the thinned clump plants - we will dig the pups at 18" and up. We are building a "Jungle" with so...
