Wouldn't the mulch pit prevent bananas growing over the centre?
A banana circle very specifically should have a roughly one metre deep pit in the centre, filled with mulch to around 1m above ground...

Lovely circle planting! I'm liking the diversity - nothing wrong with survival of the fittest planting - you can always take away...
