i have one very neglected tree that gets wind blasted every day and not much attention.
It gave a small bunch of bananas and I think I will experiment on it just for interest sake.

The local farm co op sells the NPK as I mentioned but they don't contain any micro nutrients, should I worry about them?

Unfortunately the growmore in South Africa is not related to the USA products in any way, and only sell 3-1-5 ; 2-3-2; etc.

Very useful to know they make no more leaves after fruiting. I have a few that are growing nice big new leaves which means they have not fruited.

Google shows the Musa grand nain to be smaaler tree with lots of fruit, that would be ideal seed to find.

Actually size does count!

I have made a caged enclosure surrounding my banana area because we have a lot of monkeys that spoil fruit. The meshed roof is 4 m high. SO I don't know if such a tree...

I want to eat the fruit, I am vegetarian and love smoothies with banana.
Size and plant not important, only the fruit, must be nice tasting.
