Re: When is the right time to bring bananas outside in zone 6? I'm SO torn!

Thank you all so much! I'm going to hold out one more week, only because the forecasted low for Saturday is only going to be 39 and Sunday 41. It's uphill from there, so after those two days, I'm...

When is the right time to bring bananas outside in zone 6? I'm SO torn!

I hate this time of year, for one reason, I'm impatient. Day temps are in the 60-70's, nights are anywhere from 45-58. I'm so desperate to bring my bananas outside. The faster I bring them out to...

Re: Success! Well, sort of...

Congrats! The one for sure is a basjoo pup, I found one too that looks exactly the same. Maybe the other one, a week or so and you should be able to tell. I wouldn't fertilize anything until you...

Is this a banana pup? It can't be, but I think it is!

I didn't leave any Basjoo in the ground this year, because last winter I had no survivors. However, interestingly enough, this popped up in one of my beds. I dug up the momma last...

Re: Why won't this thing grow?

I wish I knew the answer to this. I had a similar problem last year on a couple of my bananas. It put out leaves fairly fast, nice and healthy green, only for older ones to die off, and barely got...

Re: Brought the bananas up from the basement.. HELP!

Thanks Kat, I have them in a spare room I use for plants and have a little bit of light on them. I watered gently, but they're still super super dry because I used quite a bit of peat when originally...

Brought the bananas up from the basement.. HELP!

Ok, stored my bananas in my parents basement, they had furnace issues that I wasn't aware of, and almost all of my bananas are goners. They're almost 1000% completely dried out and were potted....

Canna - Alive or goner?

Hi guys. I left 8 Miss Oklahoma canna's in the ground, barely mulched, in zone 6b/7 near shed foundation. We've had a couple of weeks now of 70's & 80's and they show NO signs of new growth above...

Sick Basjoo - over fertilized - but pupping

I bought an older Basjoo back in May. I planted this one somewhat mounded. I figured it might help drainage with my clayish soil. Amended hole with a bag of cow manure compost, less clayish soil, and...

Re: Banana Novice: Help! Raked back mulch - bare root!

Thanks everyone. I did as suggested and laid more compost and mulch. I've got some deficiencies I think from over fertilizing, but I think with the current rains, all will work out.

Re: Banana Novice: Help! Raked back mulch - bare root!

I don't have pics, but could take some if needed. I really don't think they're pups coming up because I have a lot of pups elsewhere, so I know what to look for. These are the main roots. I've...

Exclamation Banana Novice: Help! Raked back mulch - bare root!

Hey everyone, I have a potential problem. This is my first year growing bananas, more specifically, growing anything. A couple of months ago, I purchased a 1-2 yr old musa basjoo online, that was...
