Remember that from a practical standpoint all you need is the bulb and the live bud at the base of the pseudostem. Don't be afraid to cut a lot off if that is what is required to get it in the house....

Try your damnedest to bring it in. My ensete glauca was almost 200 pounds when I dug it up. I had to trim off all but the top leaf and used a dolly to bring it down into the basement. Just leaned it...

I would just try as hard as possible to bring the ensete indoors, even if it means cutting the plant back a little bit so it is easier to bring in.

These leafs seem to have been grown in shade as their petioles are too long for an Ensete ventricosum and so they droop down from their own weight. The new leafs it will grow should have much shorter...

I think the purple plant you are referring to is actually a Castor Bean plant The green shiny leaves are a type of philodendron.

Wait till you have no risk of frost (possibly right now) and plant it in the ground. Enjoy it all year until fall. Then, dig it back up and store it again like you did before.
