Wait till there are about 12" of flower stem below the last banana. The stem sometimes dries up when you cut the flower. If it dries up past where the bananas are attached, then you lose the bananas....

The one in the ad is an Ensete. He didn't actually lie, it will bear fruit, just not anything that is edible.
