Re: FHIA 1 and American Goldfinger

I think the differences are beyond simply the male bud. The fruit length, overall shape, bunch size are all smaller in the off type. It's certainly possible that "American Goldfinger" is actually any...

Re: Sick Keikis?

It appears they came from Makuu Market. During the planting phase did you check to make sure the corm wound healed? Did it also have healthy roots? I haven't bought banana plants in awhile, but the...

Re: Sick Keikis?

It doesn't look too much like bunchy top to me, but I have limited experience. It may just be that they're struggling. Looking like that after 1 week I wouldn't worry about, but the other seems odd....

Re: Sick Keikis?

It's summer in your location. Have you increased irrigation? Are they receiving sufficient nitrogen and potash?

Re: Hawaiian keikis wanted on Big Island

Marvin in Mt. View may have Huamoa available. He certainly has Popo'ulu varieties as well. Seems to be quite a few banana collections around, just a matter of finding them.

Re: Hawaiian keikis wanted on Big Island

Thanks, but at this point I'm not selling plants anymore, except in certain cases unfortunately. As bunchy top has made it to my farm and neighborhood, I'm only selling certain kinds to those who...

Re: Aloha!

Dwarf Apple Banana that sounds awsome. Do they taste like apple or look like apple? Just curious. Have a great day from Florida's toasty southwest.

Nang Phaya Taste Report

I've been waiting a while for these. Previous p-stems withered before fruiting, so it took 3.5 years to get fruit. Another planted on my new lot fruited in about a year. Very interesting Thai banana...

I've been growing these (likely) Iholena Lele variants lately. It isn't clear exactly what they are, but they've been found on Oahu and Hawaii island. Mine was originally found near Waimea on the Big...

Rare Fe'i rediscovered in Hawaii-by me!

Last week after Gabe's banana workshop, he, keikikid, and I went to the home where I saw this banana fruiting last year. Clearly a Fe'i, but not one I had ever seen before. The owner told us to go...
