I think you get out of your experience as much research as you put into it.. Make contact ahead of time and nurseries what selection they have on hand & such.. I think heading a lil further south and...

When I was in clearwater in June I was very dissapointed at the lack of greenhouses and selection. Lowes and HD had NO bananas and very little of anything else..if you need a 15 ft palm for 100 bucks...

I understand the question. I am sure there are plenty of nurseries were you could pick up a banana plant. Heck home depot or lowe's

I'm not sure what a jiffy pot is. However, it doesn't matter if it's sterile or not. If you want it sterile put it and the compost in the microwave for 30 seconds.
