Re: Finally got a taller basjoo
Aside from feeding and watering, I've found mine get taller in a season when they have a developed root system (second year or more in the ground) and the stem isn't killed down to the ground or...

Re: Musa Basjoo slow growth in Missouri
It's been growing roots. Transplanting a big plant in July in Missouri is quite a feat. It's a wonder the thing is alive. I think the roots have been getting established. Once the roots are...

Re: Mekong Giant vs Basjoo

Re: Super Dwarf Nam Wa Updates
Having thought about it, I'm thinking there might be 2 different views of "cold hardy." If a person expects the banana plant to stand year round with green leaves 12 months, then even a basjoo like I...

For any other people reading this forum on cold hardy bananas, the response was that they are not cold hardy below zone 11.

Re: Glyphosate and bananas
Glyphosate will only kill plants when it gets on the foliage. If the foliage of your weed can be leaned away from the banana leaves and you use a coarse spray, you can kill the weed. Glyphosate will...

Re: Masa Basjoo Banana
Plant them deep enough that the entire corm won't freeze next winter. From your description of beautiful plants, they're apparently leafed out. So keep them potted and indoors or move in and out as...

Hello
I've had some musa basjoo plants for 3 years and this past winter was my first attempt to preserve some of the stem over the winter. I started the spring with about 3 feet more or less of stem on...
