Re: Truly What?!?!
A year later and the bananas don't look that different from the pics I posted. I'd update with new pics, but the camera isn't working. The SDC Truly Tiny is starting to pup. The mystery twins have...

Re: Florida Hill Nursery?
So basically I shouldn't order the Dwarf Brazilian I've been looking at? Edit: I mean because it may not be. I've already been through this with "Truly Tiny" from an Amazon seller.

Re: Truly What?!?!
I wound up under-watering a little bit during the worst of the beginning of our dog days (2x per day was not enough). Plus, we have some leaf burn (the uv was so bad one weekend, my lettuce and...

Re: whats wrong? pewnny banana
Members here, pretty much. My four bananas are all tissue culture babies (no basjoos or orinocos either) and none old enough to pup yet, but I'm sure you could find somebody here with a pup to sell.

I keep looking and one of your pots looks very faded, while the pot with the basjoo looks very new? Or are they different materials? I know lighter color pots are sometimes cooler to the roots than...

Re: whats wrong? pewnny banana
Are they both getting the same amount of sunlight? If I find that one potted plant grows faster than another, I'll move the slow grower closer to the fast grower and it picks up. I also watch my yard...

Re: Truly What?!?!
The window may be the reason for its slow growth. I boot mine out of the house in the springtime once it gets warm enough, but if yours seems happy and you're happy with the growth rate, I wouldn't...

Does it/did it have the red on the leaves like my other Truly Tiny?
This is the one I got from Wellspring last year:

Ok. I will keep an eye on them for another month and post more pics in July or August. :lurk:
Of course, if by August, they are six feet tall and growing, we'll know they are Truly Something Else....

Truly What?!?!
Last year I bought a Truly Tiny Banana plant from Well Spring. It did very well for me all summer long and managed winter inside by the window like a champ--my Orinoco didn't do nearly as well. This...

Re: Can I get ripe bananas in zone 7 Virginia?
The timeline on the poor Orinoco was like this:
July: Got baby Orinoco from Well Spring
July: Orinoco was chopped in half during the building of the porch swing
August: Orinoco returned to almost...

Re: Can I get ripe bananas in zone 7 Virginia?
No worries. I'm happy to help. Where you are, you should probably have even warmer weather than I do, but it's hard to say. I know Memphis is out of the zone that can grow rhubarb. No, I didn't leave...

Re: Can I get ripe bananas in zone 7 Virginia?
I'm late to this party, but there are some places where you can search your zone by city or zip code. Try that rather than by state. TN is pretty big and varies a lot depending on where you are in...

Back from Banana Hiatus - Truly Tiny
My current living conditions are laughably small, so I have held out on getting a new 'naner on the grounds that I don't have the room and I'm not sure whether I'll be in a good zone or if I'll be...

Re: Anyone else growing Meyer Lemons or Kumquats?
Here's mine. From that angle the fruit look more round than they are. I'm embarrassed by how yellow the leaves still are. I've been working on the fertilizer and direct light and such since I moved...

I just started some seeds from Bing cherry chilling in the fridge. In the early fall after the first frost, I intend to put them out in a large planter I made from an old chest cooler. I am doing the...

Re: Anyone else growing Meyer Lemons or Kumquats?
I had the Undead Meyer Lemon until the cat finished it off at last, along with my seedling Lemon Kanu'on. I got a replacement that had been grafted--not a great fan of grafted trees here, due to the...

The banana garden may have to wait until I get a new property (that is in the plans with a vague "soon" lable) or I can get this seedling citrus grove off my hands. Who knew seedling Valencias,...

Re: Nice to meet everyone
For some reason it doesn't feel like I've been away for three years. I am glad to see that the Tog Tan banana icon is still in use. I didn't get to meet him, but his advice and humor were a big part...
