Re: My blue java trees look pathetic. Is it disease or just weather?

If those are the height when fruiting, I doubt they are Ice Cream. Plants are definitely stressed, probably from lack of water and fertilizer. Do not fertilize now, as they are going dormant, which...

Re: Cold weather advice/too much sun?

Trim as much as you want as long as you don't remove ANYTHING that is green.

Re: Cold weather advice/too much sun?

Water extensively and fertilize well when growth is rapid and temps warm (Apr/May to Sept/Oct. Do not fertilize and water to keep damp when growth is minimal (Oct/Nov-Mar or Apr)

Re: Question About TC FHIA-03

Definitely has no pink as an adult plant. Don't recall it being that pink at a pup, but many things have red or pink in the pups early.

Re: New Banana grower and questions

1. April-October water frequently and soil should always be at least moist to 12-16" depth. In the winter just enough water to keep soil damp.

2. Depending on soil type a soaker hose may not work....

Re: Is there any way to encourage the growth of pups on my Musa Tanee?

Can't speak to this variety, but bananas in general respond to fertilizer. However the affect is usually not immediate. In addition some varieties tend to pup early in the life cycle, and others more...

Re: Dwarf Cavendish Brown Spots

The spots are normal for older leaves, esp. in winter. The new leaf is telling you have you have had weather issues and/or stress such as cold wet weather. If the next leaf is normal, then issue...

Re: Blue Java x Namwah growth, first post.

Guessing the X is really there to say that it is possibly either variety, not a cross. As Reminosys indicated Namwa is often sold as Ice Cream/Blue Java. Guessing it will turn out to be Namwa, which...

Re: Should I cut off banana rack now that it's getting colder?

If it is still putting out bananas it is way to early to harvest. Leave it as long as the temps are above freezing. generally they need 6 months after flowering to mature the fruit before ripening

Re: Red and White Iholena - Tissue cultured from Iholena Lele

In my experience both have red blushed undersides to their leaves. Red was very cold sensitive. White less so.

Re: Ice cream banana question

Increasing warmth will increase survival chances. Artificial light, if indoors would be good.

Re: Fertilization Program and Tips to get Sword Suckers to Come up.

Heavy fertilization does seem to simulate pupping. Water suckers seem to be somewhat random, but more prevalent on a weak or stunted parent. Each variety has it's own time to pup, some early in the...

Re: New Leaves Emerge With Yellow Tinge Color

Pix would help. I would suspect a fertilizer deficiency, but also some varieties tend to have some streaking of color variation. If the following leaf is normal, problem solved. Leaves tell you about...

Re: Dwarf Namwah Flowering Question

Looks like a regular leaf though a little short, with another one following already. The easiest way to identify a flag leaf is not by it's length, though it is usually shorter, but by the different...

Re: NC Orinoco late flowering--fruit still possible??

If you can keep it warm where it is there is some hope. If it is truly about to flower, digging it up will shock it and it will still flower, but will likely have small or abortive fruits.

PVC pipe...

Maybe it is a very dwarf variety. Otherwise, needs more water and fertilizer.
