I talked with a nurseryman yesterday who said, “heat” is the factor. But, I’d be interested to see if everyone growing Mauerelii in 90+ degree heat, has their plants turn green.

It’s definitely environmental. Perhaps my question should be rephrased- What environmental conditions lead to more red color; or more green color, in ‘’?

I read in an old thread that the more sunlight, the more red color on new growth. But, it also said, when ‘Mauereli’ was taken to a tropical country, they turned all green. My experience this...

Alabama Gulf Coast. I've grown several bananas outdoors year-round; and seem to add something new each year. Some edible; some ornamental only.
