Re: Easiest Way To Sharpen A Machete

I've used it for ceremonies, not much else. It's not wide like a machete, it is longer and is curved like a Samari, but is from the middle east. :jalapenonaner:

Re: Easiest Way To Sharpen A Machete

A Mamaluke sword slices better than a machete, and is very flexible, I've just never tried it on a banana pseudostem. :-) !!! I find a curved saw works very well, on bananas.

Augment "soil" (limestone) with lots of organic material. Also go over and see Don at Going Bananas. There are some cultivars much better suited for South Florida and much more productive....

Re: SH 3640 bunch just too darn big!!!

My inlaws (Puerto Ricans) did not put "Green Salsa" on their Pasteles. I am not Puerto Rican so I tried it. It is fantastic. Now some of them (not many)actually enjoy Green Salsa on their Pasteles,...

Standing water is lethal to a banana mat. Dig them up fast, and if the area is prone to flooding, plant them on a raised bed. Check out the disease section in my photo gallery. Flooding is not a...

Re: SH 3640 bunch just too darn big!!!

Congratulations Dan,

That's a very nice bunch of bananas. I've never had to prop my SH 3640s. Last year and this year I've not taken off many pups and let the mat have multiple pseudostems. As a...

Good afternoon Mark,

After doing some research, comparing brachs, leaf lengths, growth habit, and fruit characteristics I think you are correct, it is a Brazilian Tall. Thank you,

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
