You got me--I don't know what year it came out. Amy's rendering just tugs at my heart. Almost makes me cry. Think I actually did first time I heard her sing this song. Just sat there transfixed. Of course, I played it again soon as I recovered. :)

Shirley Owens (from the Shirelles) originally did not want to record this and it took quite a bit of arm twisting by the producers in 1960 before she relented. She didn't like it because it was too "country-musicky". It made the top 100 charts the following year. Some quarters rate it as the top song in 1960, but personally, I think it was "The Theme from a Summer Place" (instrumental) by Ray Conniff.

Great song for karaoke, though.

Listening to my big dog snore! I never imagined a dog could make this much noise while sleeping. Lily is her name and she is an 11 mo. old 115 lb. English Mastiff that thinks she is a lap dog.
