Default Together Farm Blocks

Any seen these yet? Looks pretty awesome but IDK how well they will hold up over time. Seem like a long time. But also seems pretty expensive, however I think it may cost close to the same building my raised bed out of 2 x 6's and 4x4's.

I hadn't seen them; they remind me of Legos. I read the reviews at Amazon; a couple of folks who had ordered them agreed with my initial impression that they're expensive for the area covered. My gardens in MD built with pressure treated decking (the old kind--yeah, I know--bad but I lived on a busy road so was already being poisoned) held up for at least 15 years before a couple of corners popped apart. Doesn't look like something I'd purchase; I'd rather buy plants with my funds.

Cool premise, but I'd agree that they're pricey for their size.

One $50 kit would make one wall that is 80" long x 6" tall x 2" thick. If I want to make a raised bed that's roughly 80" x 40" and 6" deep, I'd need to buy 3 of those kits (two for the long sides, and a third to make the two short sides), so about $150 + shipping.

I think I could build the same thing for about $10 using 2x6's: get a couple of 10 footers, saw each off at the 80" mark to make the long sides, use the leftover 40" pieces for the short sides, and screw the four sides together.

At least they could have cool stuff you could put in / on the corners.. That's not a very good deal.. I wonder if they ever tested to see long they will last in the sun? I bet weeds get thru them..

Thank you for all the answers. I want to build one bed that is 6 ft long, 2 1/2 ft tall and about 2 1/2 ft wide as well. With this optoin it would be about $300. I will need to check on the price of wood next. I am also considering an entire different route and cutting 55 gal blue barrel's in half and just using them as a garden bed.

I think it would cost more than that.

For $50 you get 24 pieces that are each 10" long by 2" tall by 2" wide. If you want the wall to be 2.5' tall, you'd need to stack them 15 deep, and the wall would only be 24/15 segments long (which equals 1.6 segments, and multiplied by 10" per segment equals 1.33', so for every $50 kit you get 1.33' of the 2.5' tall wall you're wanting to build).

The bed you want to build has a perimeter of 17'. To build a wall that is 17' long and 2.5' high would require 12.75 kits (17' needed/1.33' per kit), which rounded up to 13 kits would cost a total of $650 + shipping.

From the comments I read at Amazon it seemed like a lot of folks were surprised at how small the kits really are.

How are they holding up for you? I've seen gardening bags and even considered sewing some for myself. 50 cents is cheaper and I like blue but my Whole Foods' bags and others would last perhaps a season I'd think.

An interesting concept - giant lego blocks. I would not buy them as the sun destroys everything made from plastic here in South Florida (the Keys). Every plastic pot or container I have used has been destroyed (becomes brittle and breaks apart). Most have started to fail within two years. Only one container lasted 5 years before it started to fall apart.
