![]() Spring or fall is the time to rebuild and refurbish your terrarium...
Me.....I hate to rearrange something I have built for a few seasons. But it keeps everything interesting for the winter. ![]() Hosta planters by Hostafarian, on Flickr Last edited by cincinnana : 11-14-2021 at 03:18 PM. |

When you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Rather than complaining and whining, just hit the report spam button and stop posting complaints. Rather send a message to the mods. We all have jobs and don't get paid to do this. we do this because we like this site as it's a valuable source of information. Just posting complaints as a response is a problem because we have to delete your complaint too. So if you are not happy, then go elsewhere. Simple.

![]() Natures sanitation engineers.
Springtails. https://extension.umn.edu/nuisance-insects/springtails https://www.microgreening.com.au/blo...ehensive-guide. For those that have potted plants or terrariums you might see these fellas busily running about doing their daily chores in the leaf litter. Do not fret they come with the territory. There is an incredible interest in introducing micro fauna to simulate the native ecosystems that are created under glass. Springtail colony's can be purchased on the internet or they can be collected in your own backyard. Other types of micro fauna for sale for the terrarium enthusiast include Isopods(pill bugs) millipedes, snails, spiders, and many more small critters. ![]() I do not recommend adding terrestrial snails to your terrarium ecosystem if you enjoy a clean look and no fuss.
Snails reproduce and and make a mess on the glass. Isopods and millipedes are a great nocturnal edition......they party all night and sleep all day. ![]() Garden snail by Hostafarian, on Flickr Last edited by cincinnana : 08-27-2022 at 08:45 AM. |

![]() Some terrariums with cold hardy plants are kept outdoors year-round.
This one contains mini hosta, ferns, and orchids, moss and string of turtles. The center feature inside the build is an aged bronze elk and the hypertufa base is covered with moss. After a hard freeze, the base is removed and stored in an outdoor protected area. The vintage repurposed outdoor lamp is brought indoors to be used on another base for the winter. ![]() Wardian by Hostafarian, on Flickr |
