Default Deer Hunters, how'd you do?

Hunters here didn't do as good as other years. Some didn't even see a deer. Used to be that they'd open another hunt season for them because of overpopulation but not anymore. This summer I saw road kill (deer) all over going north of here but we just came from up north & I didn't see any deer except ones strapped on back of cars. I hear the wolves & bears are killing them. Bears are killing fawns & wolves are now overpopulated.
The hunters were dissappointed this year. 12 friends of ours hunted for 9 days at their cabin & came home w/ 2 doe & a small buck. Darn wolves & bears are wiping out the deer!

I have a 10 acre property on Hartstene Island (10 miles long x 4 miles at the widest point) on Puget Sound, and since they allowed shotguns to hunt deer on the island, hunting season is virtually over after a couple of days because the deer is so tame. It used to be that you can only use bow or cross-bow to hunt them, but their population was getting so big that they opened it up to shotguns. My property is undeveloped and has no fence so hunters just park their cars on the main highway, about 5 to 6 blocks away, and just set up on my property sometimes.

Over here harvesting of does is not allowed. "If it ain't got no horns, you can't shoot it!" I think its the same thing in Alaska, if I remember correctly.

I haven't hunted deer, yet, but I have my eye on a Marlin xlr 308. A doe, I'd never sight. It'll take points to get my attention. I wouldn't normally consider bear or wolf but, if things are that bad, it's time to open 2 new seasons (one for each).

Wow Chong, all the property owners here put up "no tresspassing " signs & there are big fines if violated. Ppl here get bucks, does or small ones - as long as they lose their spots & no longer small fawns.
There is bear season here too but I don't know when. I know of hunters that will shoot a wolf if they see it. I don't think there is wolf season though. Bears eat the fawns & wolves are feasting on everything - including horses & all livestock.

Ok here we go.. I had to shoot a pack of dogs a number of years ago in kentucky that attempted to attack me.. I fixed my shotgun forestock retainer then commenced to take the offensive. Bear and wolf fall into the same category.. they have teeth. well maybe not bears it depends on its demeanor., but wolves.. well they are overpopulated :^)
My sister has 40 acres near lacrosse that butts up to a state park of some sorts. Its a tree farms (all oaks) and her weekend house. So deer are a hoof :^) I think I'm going to hunt there next year. Alot of hunter don't do any homework and just like hitting the woods for companionship (&beer or liquer) and being away from the normal ins & outs of life.. a get away.. manly man... lol I go late season.. all my area's open up I see more pigs (adds to the bounty) If I see a monster rack or chase one up I'll attempt to lay him down if he doesn't out wit me :^) (been down before)...

Well, haven't done any deer hunting this year, but I did get 4 ducks over the weekend. Does that count? I'm hoping to go deer hunting down in Victoria, TX later in the season.

I know up in connecticut coyotes are all over the place now. Probably due to the abundance of deer.

Not in my neck of the woods. We're overrun with with feral cats though.

Always a handful of deer in my woods, just never around when I'm in the stand. I did discover some turd of a neighbor is poaching from a tree 5 feet from my Emu pen. Can't wait to see who it is.

I haven't deer hunted yet. I will not be hunting in Alabama this yr--maybe GA, but usually only takes a few days to get a deer. I only kill 1/yr, but the season last several months and you can kill 2/day.

If deer were eating my banana plants I'd done would have been slayin' some.. I can say I am one with myself as a man I don't have to prove it.. I can shoot good.. I do have#121 squirrels in the bags though.. & 6 bushels of pecans is the result :^) Besides my freezer is full of my hog.. so I'm not into wasting things.. Fine me :^)

I see deer all the time across the street in the back corner of friends field. I don't have the inclination to fill any of my 7 tags. His brother nailed a 10 pointer. I'd rather kill a pest like pigs.. and they taste good :^) not that venison doesn't.. just not into taking anything to a donation point when I can be getting my yard cleared of an oak tree and pine branches :^)

got 24 pheasants in my freezer... hehe

My father in law brought them over. He went Bow Hunting in Kansas right before Christmas and shot the biggest buck he has ever seen. Was snowing pretty good and they couldn't find the buck the outfitter felt bad and took him to shoot some pheasant before he had to leave...

Got a pig waiting to be picked up from the butcher, have the back strap already in my freezer. Going to get another pig in 2 weeks.

Pretty much all of our meat has been wild game this past year. Its much healthier for you...
