Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
I'll get some better shots later because these are taken from the back of the plants but this is another mystery pot of hot peppers, from Portugal. A gardener sent me a mix of some of their best types and these purple ones are looking so intriguing...
It's a dwarf plant too and the leaves are kind of purplish. I definitely plan on saving seeds for this one. Even the brownish/black peppers (a totally different variety in the same container) are really neat looking. Here's yet another variety with a fruit ripening... : ) |

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Gosh I'm loving these today...
I enjoy how the little fruits start out yellow but then turn purple. They also turn violet, mauve, and white! Those are my "Aurora" plants. I have 8 dwarf plants in one pot. The peppers will ripen through many colors and they're surprisingly hot and flavorful as well as ornamental. They're my all-time favorite hot pepper plant. : ) |

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Here's an update on my hot peppers. I included it in a blog which has the progress on one of each species dating back to April 2, until July 9. The real show is yet to come.

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Things are not right here. I have several jalapeno and ancho chili plants growing in containers, also cubanellas, and they seem to be awfully slow. Although there is fruit on all of them they don't get a thick flesh. I grow organically and make sure they get enough fertilizer and water. They are outside in almost full sun. The containers are the black plastic 12 inch pots that ought to be big enough for them. HELP What can I do to speed up their growth and get better fruit?

Noah, can you show me a picture of your containerized peppers? I think I know what the problem is but I wanna see first.
Wow, Millworkman...looking good. I've never heard of that 'brain' one. Those are weird! I suspect they're hot as hell! Be sure to let us know... : ) |

Thank you!
This one is my very favorite of them all and I take a lot of pictures of it. I usually just post one or two, but I couldn't chose today. ~J

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Beautiful neighborhood. We had 28 acres outside of Crossville but vied to stay in Florida. Very nice looking plants. We are trying to get to having the same but I seem to fail at keeping the moisture correct. In comes the drip system.

Here is a picture of my very first Fish bud. It's a teeny little thing but I think you can see it!
