Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Thanks HBL!!
Yes the make is from Johnsons, bought at Homebase. The variety is Romano. Thin skinned and very sweet, widely used in the mediteranian. July to October fruit. Do you want two or three seeds?

Janas,
How are you growing those? I love the little covers (glass or plastic) Kevin, Quote:
Not meant to be Kevin, it my first year with Peppers. I guess I should have removed the growing tip early.

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Thank you!
Yes, I rather enjoy the cleanliness of the plants as well, with no messy soil. It's just a great unit and anyone who likes to grow things inside, should have one...although the system can be put outside as well. Ok here are my "black pearl" plants today. It's two plants in one pot and there's lots of fruits setting now... Even on the back of the plants too... Such a unique plant... : ) |

Lovely contrasting lilacy flower. I just bought this month a Nigella, it won't flower till next year....pink flowers and leaves your top image color.

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Okay mom said the red habanero pepper seeds i dug out of the pepper might not be real habanero peppers so i bought some seeds and planted them in cups and they sprouted today. i have tons of red habanero peppers now!
im planting them in the garden when they make more leafs but im growing 4 inside too so they can make good seeds. this is a picture i took today. [IMG][/IMG]

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
I knew it! It's just like those short pale yellow/whitish ones that were frosted with purple, but they're the longer type! I want seeds for that one as well so be sure to save them.
Great shots, JaNan! Love the blossom shot. How beautiful...and so clear! Your "Fish" plant is absolutely gorgeous! It will get whiter and whiter...and just wait until it branches out! Some of the branches will be pure white! What a beautiful variety that is. Oh I love it. Mine already has little fruits, which I will show soon. They're variegated! : ) |

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Thank you!
Were your blossoms like that also, I can't remember? It is a very nice plant. It just has blossoms everywhere and it has a nice spreading canopy. I can tell when the fruit is going to set - they have a thick "neck" on them - the skinny ones just fall off. It is getting the bluish black leaves on it like yours have also. Let me check my pictures to see if I have a whole plant shot. I think that FISH it the most beautiful pepper plant I have ever seen!!! It is growing so fast right now too. Here is the Black Pearl from your seeds: ~J

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
I don't recall JaNan, if my blossoms were the same or not but I'm totally tickled by all the very cool varieties you seem to have created! Seriously though...they're gorgeous! I think my blossoms were just pure white.
I've also been eating them and they're hotter than hell! Just the way I like them to be. I love purple peppers most especially, and I enjoy how many or your types have lots of purple running through them. Check out these mystery ones of yours today. These are the whitish ones that get frosted with purple and then become more and more colored... Would've been a clearer shot if I'd used the flash. Sorry. : ) |

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Oh and here's the bottom half of my variegated African heirloom "Fish" pepper plant tonight...
Here's the top half... The pics do not do it justice at all...it's a gorgeous specimen! It already has a fruit on it too that's green with white stripes on it. None of the shots I took of it came out clear though, so when it gets a little bigger I'll surely show it. : ) |

Re: A thread for hot pepper-a-holics...
Thanks, JaNan. I'm sure enjoying it and I can't wait to show you the little green fruit that points downward, with white stripes!
Ok here are your other mystery hot peppers, with the exception of the larger ones (Jimmy Nardello sweet Italian frying peppers)... They remind me of my "Fire Cracker" plant and they're pretty hot as well. I like the way this type trails down the pot. : ) |
