![]() Hello everyone!
It has been a long time since I last alerted everyone to my blog updates. I am not sure if this is spamming the feeds or not, and if it is, I apologize, but it is related to the tasty tropical plants I am growing. Here are some new things on my blog: - Fish Poop as Fertilizer: I illustrate how your fish tank can produce natural fertilizer that your plants love! -Some personal updates -Upcoming: I am going to feature my newly procured coffee trees soon, in addition to a book review, and showing off my fruiting mandarin orange tree! -Other Things: My plant catalog section is going to have a few updates soon, and I will hopefully add some stuff to "The Tropical Kitchen Page." Good growing everyone! Spekter http://www.spektersplants.wordpress.com

![]() Hi Spekter,
The process you are describing is Aquaponics. The feeding of fish and circulating the Aquarium water to plants/vegetables. I too have Citrus Trees, oranges, limes, lemons, grapefruit and now Banana's. I have an indoor Arboretum that is in the process of being overhauled so I can house my trees along with vegetables. But the secret is the 3- 200 gallon fish tanks in the basement that will supply fertilizer to my vegetables and trees in the Arboretum on the first floor. Here is a link to an Aquaponic website that shows fish and plants. My fish of choice will be Telapia, cat fish and bass. So there will be fresh fish, veggies and fruit. ![]() Certainly! I wish that I could use aquaponics on a larger scale, but as a small home grower, my experience with aquaponics is limited to your standard household aquarium, as opposed to commercial setups for larger food fish. That said, I've been interested in aquaponics for a long time, and am really glad to know that it can be done effectively in a home system. Aquaponics is something I would love to do on a larger scale, but I just do not have the space currently.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well! Spekter
