![]() Consumed alright, just not by me!
Some no good *#@&8 animal or something ate it before I could lol All I saw was what appeared to be a seed and part of the skin on the ground next to the plant. I brought it in from the back of my property and placed it under the patio where it can still get 5-6 hours of sunlight however; not the 8-10 where it was:[ Any suggestion on what could have eaten my sole ripe (so far) treasured cherry? I'll move one of my guards out of the field and position her where she'll assure dat doesn't happen again! ![]()

![]() Yep, most likely a bird.
Same thing happens with my Cherry of the Rio Grande (and the miracle fruit and cherry tomatoes), as long as the fruit is green nothing bothers them, as soon as they start showing color, the birds start getting interested in them. Here it could be cardinals, mocking birds, cat birds or blue jays mostly. If your tree is still small you could cover it with bird netting. Must be the color red/purple, my grumichama which goes from green to yellow (when ripe) never gets bothered, even tho it is just a couple feet from the CRG's. DM |

![]() Though the mulberry has made dozens of fruit I've only had one.
They never get much past half ripe. We did used to hunt crows and found the breasts to be wonderfully firm and flavorful. Of course this was after marinating them in beer for several hours.
